An urban immersion
September 13 - 18, 2020
Join the Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers in exploring the global similarities in the challenges, causes and responses to the realities of urban poverty and homelessness: NYC and beyond.
We will collaborate with local groups who are working to alleviate the causes and immediate needs surrounding urban poverty and homelessness including Catholic Charities Outreach; Street ministry to the homeless; Catholic Worker; education experts; faith based immigration assistance.
Immersion trip includes:
- Pre-trip orientation; post trip review
- On-site introduction to the cultural, economic, and spiritual realities from local New York City faith leaders.
- Learning from and assisting at the NYC Catholic Worker Houses.
- Explore cross cultural and immigrant concerns.
- Meet with faith based community redevelopment and immigration initiatives.
Estimated costs: $900 which includes room, breakfasts / lunches, and transportation. We will begin the trip at St. Anthony’s parish in the Bronx. Participants are responsible for their travel to / from NYC.
