Maryknoll is excited to announce it is resuming its immersion trip to Taiwan and South Korea! With Asia becoming more of the hub of pop culture for young people in the United States, come learn what it's all about and what it means from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching. Join us to experience the ever-new and ever-enduring cultural richness of Asia and have a firsthand experience of the lived experience of the locals. In Taiwan, you will meet Filipino migrant workers and learn about the social justice issues they are up against. In the evenings, you will get the chance to visit night markets and taste a variety of rich flavors and colors. In South Korea, come learn about the history of Catholicism from an Asian perspective and its influence on the country. You will of course get exposure to the K-pop music craze that is one of the most popular music industries in the world. Every day we will build community and do theological reflection on what we have experienced each day. Come join us for this unique trip to learn about Asia and grow in your faith!

Trip includes:

Pre-orientation includes resources and informational sessions on history of Taiwan and faith formation about missionary discipleship
On-site introduction to the cultural, religious, economic, and political realities of Taiwanese young people and migrant workers
Visit Maryknoll missionaries, hear their stories of working with the people of Taiwan and discover how their work in mission connects with your own mission
Meet the people of Taiwan and Filipino Migrants and listen to stories of hope and challenge
Celebrate with local communities of missionary disciples
Encounter and engage the richness of the local culture
Faith formation designed to ground service and outreach in the Catholic tradition
Daily communal prayer, liturgies and theological reflection on what has been experienced
Includes all meals, lodging, and in-country transportation
Post-trip debriefing and reflection
Credits for Continuing Education

Participant requirements and conditions

Trip Cost: $2200
The trip cost includes accommodations, meals, local transportation, and entry fees during the trip. Participants are responsible for arranging and covering their own transportation to and from the trip location, as well as any required travel documents and incidental expenses. Generally, a current Passport with an expiration date exceeding at least 6 months from trip date is required. Check the U.S. State website for more information.

About Maryknoll Immersion Trips
Maryknoll immersion trips are a ministry designed to foster missionary discipleship. Read more about our trips on our website. Participants are selected based on the potential impact the trip may have on their faith journey. Trip costs are calculated based on the expected number of participants, with each individual asked to contribute at least their share. Contributions beyond the required amount are appreciated, as they support others in participating in future trips. These contributions may be tax-deductible; donors should consult their financial and legal advisors for guidance.

Financial Assistance and Fundraising
For participants unable to afford their share, fundraising with family, friends, and community members is encouraged. If fundraising does not fully cover the cost, financial assistance may be available through Maryknoll by submitting a subsidy request form.

Registration and Preparation
After registering, a trip leader will contact you to ensure the trip is a good fit. Upon acceptance by Maryknoll, participants must complete the Risk Awareness and Travel Agreement, which includes essential details and important information. Participants will also receive information on the required non-refundable deposit and full payment deadlines.

Please note: Trips require a minimum number of participants to proceed. Do not make any travel arrangements until advised by the trip leader.
