Missionary disciples are called to GO FORTH IN JOY! However, the example of Jesus rising early to go off by himself for prayer reminds us that ACTION must be balanced with CONTEMPLATION to be an essential element for effective ministry.
Maryknoll's ongoing commitment to mission could not be sustained without prayer. Maryknoll missioners pray with, share our rich faith tradition and learn from those with whom we live and serve throughout the world.
Here is what others have said about this retreat:
"It helped bring us closer to God. It was a very healing experience!"
"I am writing to offer you my heart-felt gratitude for Fr. Alfonso Kim's [...] retreat ministry in our Diocese! He has facilitated the spiritual journey of many of our people and beyond!" Bishop of Gallup, NM
"I learned more about the foundational principles of meditation as well as the core purpose. This knowledge has already enriched my own meditative prayer experience."
This interactive, 3 day retreat is a wonderful opportunity to experience this form of mission spirituality. Fr. Alfonso Kim, M.M., our retreat leader, will guide us in going deeper into the contemplative prayer experience which will strengthen us in our lives as missionary disciples. Fr. Kim has global experience in Christian mindfulness and Zen practice. He served in mission in Japan and has conducted retreats in Korea, Japan, India, Tanzania, Mexico, Thailand, Cambodia, US (New Mexico, California, Seattle, New York, New Jersey and Texas), and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
We will meet at 5pm (PT) on Friday, Oct. 28th at Maryknoll in Los Altos. Retreat will end at 1pm following lunch on Sunday, Oct. 30th.
